Community Path Began Decades Ago 

It has taken over two decades of stop-and-start development, but  construction of the Community Path is finally in sight. Here is a chronology of the events that shaped current plans for the Belmont Community Path.

Arlington Group Opposes Mugar Site Plans

The Mugar wetlands are 17.7 acres of open land in East Arlington. Oaktree Development has proposed constructing a 207-unit apartment complex and six duplex townhouses on this site. The Coalition to Save the Mugar Wetlands opposes building on the site.

Paper Bag Fee Would Reduce Emissions

Producing a paper bag emits three to four times as much carbon as producing a plastic bag. This fact has led many cities and states across the country to do what the author proposes forBelmont: implement a town-wide 10-cent fee on paper bags.

Belmont CPC Supports Four Projects

Belmont’s Community Preservation Committee has recommended funding historic preservation projects on the Homer House and Town Hall, affordable housing at Belmont Village, and rehabilitating Town Field Playground.
